What’s New for the 2025 Subaru Crosstrek
At the end of 2024, the Subaru Crosstrek became our best-selling vehicle. Across the U.S.A., more people have discovered the updated small crossover and its inherent capabilities. There is so much to love about our versatile machine, which is why it attracts many customers with active lifestyles.
For 2025, the Crosstrek is set to win over more people with its charms. The biggest news for the new year is that the 2025 Crosstrek Premium gets the upgraded 182-horsepower 2.5-liter Subaru BOXER engine. This replaces the 2.0-liter BOXER engine, which is now only available on the more affordable Crosstrek base model. The Premium model also receives the dual-function X-MODE traction management system.

The advantage of the larger engine is evident. As seen on the Sport, Limited, and Wilderness models, the 2.5-liter BOXER engine’s 178 pound-feet of torque can manage traffic and lane changes out on U.S. Highways 14, 52, and 63 very easily. Interstate 90 runs will be happier adventures when you go further away from Rochester.
Combined with the dual-function X-MODE, the extra power helps you manage rougher road surfaces and unplowed roads. Our infamous Southern Minnesota snowstorms pose no threat to the 2025 Crosstrek. All you do is switch the X-MODE into either the SNOW/DIRT or DEEP SNOW/MUD setting when conditions call for it.
One of the reasons for last year’s sales success was the addition of the Crosstrek Wilderness. It returns for 2025 with everything you heard great things about. Aside from the standard 2.5-liter BOXER engine and the dual-function X-MODE, the Crosstrek Wilderness rides high with a 9.3-inch ground clearance, all-terrain tires, body protective cladding, and skid plates—and much more.
There are five 2025 Crosstrek trim levels to choose from. All trims are equipped with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, steering responsive LED headlights, SI-DRIVE performance management, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System with individual tire display and automatic individual wheel ID registration standard. You get a well-equipped compact crossover with standard Symmetrical all-wheel drive—no matter which model you choose.

When you step up to the Premium model, you not only get the more powerful engine and dual-function X-MODE, but you are also treated to the larger SUBARU STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system with six speakers, a four-month trial of SiriusXM with 360L, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto compatibility. The conveniences do not stop there with the addition of auto up/down front windows, raised ladder-type roof rails, Keyless Access with Push-Button Start, and LED fog lights.
The Sport trim was also a model people loved a lot. All you need to know is its lime yellow trim pieces and unique interior color scheme. Those 18-inch dark gray finished alloy wheels make for one cool looking 2025 Crosstrek. One step further is the Limited trim that spoils you with leather seating and plenty of luxury features that are made for an elevated experience.
If you want to look further into the future, the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid was just announced, which will be coming our way later this year. If you are looking for a fun vehicle that can take you anywhere, contact us at Subaru of Rochester to see the 2025 Crosstrek soon!
